Updates and craftiness

First things first, here is the latest Mariah update. The back is patiently waiting for the sides and sleeves to catch up. The fronts are coming along nicely. I am making two alterations to the pattern. One, I made the cuffs on the sleeves longer and two, I will be adding short row shaping to the front. So about an inch more, short row shaping and the fronts will be waiting with the back. The sleeves are coming along nicely, slowly, but nicely. I can't work on them too late at night or I will make a mistake and send the next night redoing. medium_100_0647.jpgmedium_100_0648.jpgmedium_100_0649.jpgThe first picture is of the fronts and back, the second and third are the sleeves. Now this Saturday I headed to the fabric market for some inspiration and to get some stuff to make my sister Elizabeth some skirts. She wants a yellow floor length peasant skirt. And Alley brat have given her approval of the material. medium_100_0644.jpgAnd for the other skirt for Elizabeth I am going to pick one of these two blues. I don't know which one yet. I was thinking about letting her decide, but now I am not sure. But here are the choices. medium_100_0637.jpgI also got some material for me. I am going to make this reversible wrap. I got two different colors of material for it. Still have to find a nice pin to fasten it with though. medium_100_0646.jpgAnd lastly, I got some material to make this top. I found this beautiful material that is 100% silk. Nice idea, but now that I am home and thinking about it, anyone who knows me knows what a mess I am when I go out in public. (Why certain people claim me is beyond my comprehension) This is a disaster waiting to happen. But I will do my best to prevent it. medium_100_0639.jpg

You have to let me have the material with the orange flowers. You gotta let me have it because it'll match the next tattoo that I'm gonna get. So I totally deserve to have the orange flower material, and in the words of the kids I nanny "I WANT IT!!!". And I'm totally digging the yellow material. I forgot to tell ya that I want the peasant skirt to be a drawstring skirt. Which is usually probably pretty easy to do.
And I'm completely jealous of your Mariah. I can't wait to finish the damn backpacks and start working on it. I can't wait. Love you!!!

Hello! I randomly stumbled across your blog when Googling knitting shops in Taipei and I'm so glad I found it. I've enjoyed your posts immensely.

I will be visiting Taipei for the first time next month with my husband and his family. I'm the only non-Asian of the bunch and it will be my first trip to the East. I am so excited and grateful for the opportunity.

I have a favor to ask: I was wondering if you might be able to point me in the direction of a knitting store or two in Taipei. I'm not exactly sure where we'll be staying, but my in-laws know the city fairly well so if we have a street address it should be OK. I'd appreciate any suggestions you might have.

I know I've never met you so this might be a bit forward of me, but I've lived abroad before and I know how it is to long for things (usually foods!) from home, so if you have any hankerings for little things that I might be able to pack and deliver to you, just let me know. Maybe we could meet up at one of the knitting stores.

BTW, your Mariah is gorgeous. I'm still finishing up my Ribby Cardi and hoping to move on to the Mariah soon. It's the finishing that always gets me. I should have plenty of knitting time on the plane ride over!

Take care and be well!

I have to tell you, your Mariah is gorgeous. I love the detail in the sleeves. I can't wait to see the finished item. It's going to be magnificent.

I see we also share a love of sewing too. I don't do much of that these days, but every now and then I will dab at it, making myself a blouse or two. I love the material you purchased for your Kimono blouse. It's going to feel so luxurious!! Lucky you!

Have fun with your knitting and sewing. Goodness know, after spending so many hours with a classroom of very young children, you probably need your knitting and sewing to help you wind down and relax.

Make it a great day!
