7 Random Things
Sandie tagged me to post 7 random things about myself. Since papers for school are now finished, for the time being, I might actually have time to post something. Give me a day or two to ease myself back into the regular world though.
1. I haven't read a non-school related book since this summer. I can tell you all kindness of coolness about formative assessment and some neato stuff about andragogy though.
2. I didn't knit a single things in the past several weeks. All my free time got sucked up into paper writing for this thing called a Master's degree I am working on.
3. I am on Ravelery, but haven't updated that either in who knows how long. Notice the theme here of school is taking away from my knitting and computer time and life? This break of freedom is only good for a few weeks.
4. I think my belly button is one of the weirdest parts of my body. Don't know why, it just is.
5. I have developed a new knitting bug. I feel the need to knit toy animals. Maybe I can use up the little bit of stash I have that way. I still have my scarf obsession, one can never have too many scarves.
6. I hate wearing hats, period. I forced my self to wear one last year for about a month when I was traveling through Siberia, Russia, and Poland. I generally keep my ears warm by wearing a really wide headband.
7. My least favorite colors are pink and orange and my favorite color is purple.

Eight Random Things
Eight random things
So Sandie (Stash n Stitch) tagged me!
But first: The rules!
1: Each player starts with 8 random facts/habits about themselves.
2: People who are tagged, write a blog post about their own 8 random things, and post these
rules.
3: At the end of your post you need to tag 8 people and include their names.
4: Don't forget to leave them a comment and tell them they're tagged, and to read your blog.
Here are eight random things about me; strange, weird, and useless facts.
1. With all my traveling I have only seen 12% of the countries in the world. I plan on increasing that number, don't worry. I want to go to South America, Africa, and it is a dream of mine to visit one of the poles. ( I always forget which one though)
2. I don't like touching hair that isn't attached to my head. I can't stand cleaning my hairbrush out even. I have been like this since I was a child.
3. Everything I learned about knitting was from a book or the internet. So I am sure that I have done some unconventional things while knitting and everything I knit is a learning experience. Especially when I have a design in my head and am trying to get it into a knitted garment.
4. I have a love/hate relationship with lace. I love the way it looks but I hate knitting it. Lace projects have been known to sit in the corner for months before I decide whether to finish them or rip them.
5. I despise seaming a knitting article. Anything I knit. I will spend hours working on numbers and math to figure out how to knit something in the round instead of having to worry about seaming it. But since I started crocheting my seams, I am more open to things not knit in the round.
6. In the past 4 years and 28 days, I have spent a grand total of 54 days in the United States. And I will be leaving again in late August/Early September to go to England. I will be spending a year there to get my Master's degree.
7. As much as I love getting emails, blog comments, and snail mail-I am horrible at reciprocating. The worst I tell you. And there are so many interesting and cool people I keep meaning to leave comments for and get busy and forget until too late in the day.
8. I don't eat watermelon anything. Don't even like watermelon flavored lip gloss. While my mother was pregnant with one of my sisters, she wanted watermelon so we all ate watermelon. I haven't eaten watermelon since then and that sister is now 22 years old.
I don't know who to tag, so it is up for grabs by anyone. But I want to say Thanks to Sandie for including me in this one. my first one. Yeah!!!

I am very sorry...
Before getting started with the last update from Thailand, I must apoligize. I have been getting spam comments with some coming from not very nice places lately. So, I hope, I have set the comments to be moderated in an attempt to keep from wasting precious computer time on having to go through my comments and deleting spam. If it doesn't work, I will see what other opinions are available.
But for exciting updates from Thailand-It is raining!!!! I am in Asia, not surprising. Right now, I am just killing time until housekeeping is done with the room. Hey Dad, have I ever mentioned that I don't like rain any more? Especially on the days when it gets so wet that your umberella is pointless really? But it is the last full day of my vacation and I am not complaining. My sister left on Wednesday evening and I went to the Full Moon Party on a neighboring island. It was fun in a way. Monday, sis and I went snorkeling in a Marine National Park here. It was a lot of fun. I can't believe that I got my sis to go snorkeling! She had fun too. At least I remembered to take some pictures of that. Have put in some serious tanning time this past week and hope to get a little bit more in tomorrow before I have to leave. Next update from my computer in Taipei with pictures attached. Didn't get many because too busy vacationing and working on tan. And personally, I wouldn't want to see pictures of me tanning.

More politics...
Enough of the ranting for now. What I failed to do was give information about how to help. Click on this for more information about how to help, even you can't give money, there are so many things needed in New Orleans. The link is for the Knitting for Boozehags website. I am still new at figuring out blogging stuff. So I want to say sorry now in case I did this link wrong. I don't want to take up someone else's bandwidth or anything like that. So if there is a better more blog polite way, please let me know.

Slacking and lacking
Unlike my sister, I have been slacking and lacking in general. The tattoo is healing nicely and now I am to the annoying itchy stage. I can't scratch or anything because that will cause the ink to come out. And I am in no way ready to get a touch up at this stage. This week at work is orientation/prep week, which means no students. But that also means no school buses running. So I have to leave my house 25 minutes earlier to get to work on time because I have to take public transport. I like public transportation. But I don't like getting up early than I have to. So I have been going to bed earlier as well. But this weekend, I promise, new posts with pictures. Any maybe even some knitting.

Sanity?????????????
Ususally, I think I am a fairly sane and rational person. But every once in a while, I do something that makes me really question myself. Last night I was taking drugs, taking the wrong drugs, need to take some drugs, or some combination there of. Pictures will explain everything
Before
After
The after was taken about 5 minutes after everything was finished. The guy did a great job. But it was suppose to take 3 hours and it ended up taken 5 hours. that was a little intense for me. Now, I just have to get through the whole healing thing.

Just another typhoon day here........
This morning the mother of all typhoons was suppose to hit Taipei. But typhoons are always liable to change their minds at a moments notice. So instead of the worst part of the typhoon hitting Taipei, once the typhoon hit land, it went a little south. So all we are getting is some rain and wind. There might be flooding, but I don’t know at this point. But looking at the weather bureau’s web site this morning, we aren’t getting the mother of all typhoons. I still get two days off from work for this. The thought of being stuck in my apartment for two without being able to get out and walk around is giving me a severe case of cabin fever. But it looks like that tomorrow I will be able to head out for a little while at least. I am hoping, praying, doing the rain dance that there will be another typhoon at the end of August. Between now and Chinese New Year, I get a grand total of one day off. No Thanksgiving or Christmas break, nothing like that. So typhoon days are the only way to get extra time off from work.
About a week ago, I was grocery shopping in the 101 building. I was looking for cinnamon so I could make some cinnamon raisin pancakes. While going through the aisles, I found these; Lyle’s Golden Syrup and Almoan Extract.
My dad and my brother love Lyle’s Golden Syrup, but I have never seen Almoan Extract before. My guess, translation error, as it common here in Taiwan, but one can never tell. On Saturday I picked up my copy of Harry Potter 6. Now I have only read about the first 6 chapters, but OMG!!!! Jon I., if you don't have this book yet, let me know and I will hook you up. You have to read this book, so far as I have read. I can't wait to finish it. Yes, I am that big of a nerd. And if the Vatican doesn't like it, it must be a good thing.
And I leave you with a picture of the Alley brat doing her thing.

The uglification of Wulei and pictures as promised
Since this is my second week of summer vacatin, I decided to do something for myself. On Monday I went to Wulei. It is a little tourist area famous for the hot springs. There is a river with natural hot springs that you can enjoy for free. There is also a beautiful waterfall there as well. Make me forget that I live in a city like this. (Took these pictures from the 89th floor of the tallest building in the world.)

The last time I was in Wulei was about 10 months ago. Work has a habit of getting in the way of life. I found this path down next to the river and I was able to take some pictures from the bottom of the waterfall.

And here are the pictures that I took Monday.
I don't know what is going on, but I would bet anything that it is going to be butt fugly. I may never go to Wulei after I see the final results. The path was so beautiful and quiet and peaceful and green. I don't adjust well to change, especially ugly changes.
Here are the pictures of Miyuki's baby that I got. In about six weeks, she is going to have another sonogram and find out if she is going to have a boy or a girl. So stay tuned for updates.
And now for knitting, as promised. I am working on two different projects right now. First is Cozy from Knitty.com in a coral yarn. I tried to get a picture of the pattern. I have a love/hate relationship with this. I am going finish it before it finishes me. This is my first attempt at any sort of lace work. I don't have to redo sections as much now, but I think it may have to sit in the corner for a while soon if it doesn't straighten up. The second on is Bad Penny from Knitty.com with big part in the blue and the trim in the colored yarn. When I did my swatch, the two yarns looked so good together. I am hoping to have it finished in time for the Open House in August. I am the world's slowest knitter, so who knows.
And finally, pictures of the Alley brat cat, who really wears the pants in this apartment.

How does it work, Ms. Walton?
Started this last night as I was waiting for a certain friend to get online. Since I had been up since 8, I pooped out and went to bed. Still trying to figure out how to get the "About Me" info typed in. I have been blog stalking for several months now and thought that I should start on. Being too cheap to pay, I am testing the waters with this one. Will just have to see how it goes. The remainder of this week and next I am on summer vacation from my teaching job. Then it is back to work. This time is my catch up time to get all the stuff done that I have wanted to the past 5 months.
