Finishing and cleaning........

Right now, there is are very few spaces that are baby safe right now. I am taking up a bit of that precious space with my various knitting and crafting projects. In an attempt to free up some of this space, I spent the day finishing up several projects. I finally finished the baby sweaters I have been knitting up. I am not 100% pleased with either of them. I had to add ribbing to the bottom of the blue one because it wasn't long enough. Not sure if I really like it. And the pink one still needs some extra severe blocking with the button bands.34b57eb621d216746544342b9876a01b.jpg63ba1ed59e090ce22881c419d8dce913.jpg I also got around to finishing up my second ever felting project. Once again, made the whole thing up as I went along. Another gift that will be mailed off soon. f61390e5d9a8abedad9ed56afb60a228.jpgad2579ba9cace5087e92344e04c9ed03.jpg The monkey has also been busy as well. Davi and I were out and about at different craft stores. It was decided that the monkey needed some tattoos, since I have some. So a way was thought up and now the monkey as some as well. He has three on his arms.9aab42b22ddb019f111e396f5619815e.jpg

The patch sewing is getting closer to being finished as well. I only have 8 left. Unless I find a new bag or smaller patches, I am going to have to quitting with the traveling thing. Running out of space. There is enough room for the eight I have left. I made sure to check. 462592381bd417823b8dfbbfdd23381f.jpg  I still have a few projects left to finish up, but that means I need to start them. So I am working on the Serrano cardigan from Knitty.com. Of course I am knitting in purple. Just started it and didn't have time to work on this weekend yet. d28f4bb082d2ba1898db2d7910e077e3.jpg

Finally some knitting and sewing

I have finally gotten around to some knitting now that I have been reunited with my knitting stuff. Since I found out I am having a niece I have been knitting for her. It had been fun. I also completed my first felting project. I can't believe how much it shrank in size. I put it through the wash cycle twice just to make sure it is was completed felted. The sweater for my niece is being model by Baby Girl-the resident baby super-model.  I also completed a dress from a pattern that I found after getting back to the U.S. My sister helped me pick out the  material. There was no zipper foot attachment for the sewing machine, so my zipper looks like crap. medium_100_1785.JPGmedium_100_1784.JPGmedium_100_1786.JPGmedium_100_1788.JPGmedium_100_1789.2.JPGmedium_100_1795.JPGmedium_100_1793.JPG

Work is a four letter word

Between that and blogspirit being difficult, I haven't really been posting as often as I should or want. And today I came home and read for a little while and then fell asleep-for three hours. So I am not tired now and I should be going to bed because I have to work in the morning. There has been knitting going on as well. First up, I have finished my Second Swap Sock sock and it is waiting for a good washing. I doubt my sock pal knows who I am, so here ya go. medium_100_1199.jpgI have some mohair that I started in one pattern for a lace scarf. When I went to pick it up again, I forgot the pattern I used. So I frogged the whole thing and started again. This time, I made a note of the pattern I am using. medium_100_1188.jpg

Now I am just getting frustrated with blogspirit. Every time I hit save as a draft ( I have learned to do after adding a picture) this is as far as it gets. Pissing me off here. So, here is the cuff to my Daddy's first glove. I am still looking for a pattern to alter, but at the same time, doubting my knitting skills for this project. medium_100_1193.2.jpgI am about 1/3 of the way finished the scarf for my International Scarf Exchange pal. Weekly staff meeting tomorrow should give me about 2 hours to work on it, so I am hoping to hit the 1/2 mark by tomorrow. medium_100_1200.2.jpgI used the last of the hand spun from Jan that I used to make my panta to make a neck warmer. I still have to add a button so it will stay on. medium_100_1190.2.jpgAnd I have been working on my silk shawl as well. Slowly but surely. I had to do some surgery to it the other day because I dropped a stitch and didn't feel like frogging 15 rows of work. The surgery doesn't look to bad. medium_100_1201.2.jpgThe Pimp (he is still in Taiwan and saving money for his trip to Australia) is working on the design for my next Hourglass sweater. I have given him a swatch. As soon as the exchange knitting is finished, I am going to start on the sweater. Well, the internets here aren't working. Roommate is having problems as well. it has only taken me 45 minutes to get this post up. ARRRRGGGGHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!

Updates and craftiness

First things first, here is the latest Mariah update. The back is patiently waiting for the sides and sleeves to catch up. The fronts are coming along nicely. I am making two alterations to the pattern. One, I made the cuffs on the sleeves longer and two, I will be adding short row shaping to the front. So about an inch more, short row shaping and the fronts will be waiting with the back. The sleeves are coming along nicely, slowly, but nicely. I can't work on them too late at night or I will make a mistake and send the next night redoing. medium_100_0647.jpgmedium_100_0648.jpgmedium_100_0649.jpgThe first picture is of the fronts and back, the second and third are the sleeves. Now this Saturday I headed to the fabric market for some inspiration and to get some stuff to make my sister Elizabeth some skirts. She wants a yellow floor length peasant skirt. And Alley brat have given her approval of the material. medium_100_0644.jpgAnd for the other skirt for Elizabeth I am going to pick one of these two blues. I don't know which one yet. I was thinking about letting her decide, but now I am not sure. But here are the choices. medium_100_0637.jpgI also got some material for me. I am going to make this reversible wrap. I got two different colors of material for it. Still have to find a nice pin to fasten it with though. medium_100_0646.jpgAnd lastly, I got some material to make this top. I found this beautiful material that is 100% silk. Nice idea, but now that I am home and thinking about it, anyone who knows me knows what a mess I am when I go out in public. (Why certain people claim me is beyond my comprehension) This is a disaster waiting to happen. But I will do my best to prevent it. medium_100_0639.jpg

We interrupt.....

your regular knitting viewing to bring you some sewing. At about 11pm Saturday night, I felt the need to bond with my sewing machine. So I started out with just this on Sunday morning. medium_100_0587.3.jpgThe reconstructed shirt didn't make it. It didn't turn out the way I expected. But here is the final view before it was added to the scrap pile. medium_100_0591.jpgBut the material and zippers turned into some cool skirts. medium_100_0592.jpgmedium_100_0597.jpgmedium_100_0600.jpgThe purple flower skirt is rather Hawiian looking, I think. Really like the way it turned out. And the black skirt was a fake-it-till-you-make-it deal. I made up the pattern as I went along. It is just five panels sewn together and I made four slits at the bottom of the skirt. I really like the way it turned out. I now return you to your regulary knitting.

Decisions, Decisions

I finished up the Bad Penny sweater and wore it to the Open House at work.  Several of my co-workers gave me positives comments on it. Those were so nice to hear, especially after all the headache that went into making it. So I worked on some gift knitting, which I can't post about until after the holiday season. And now I am working on some selfish knitting. I have started on my Mariah cardigan. (side note: This cardigan is the whole reason I blog now. I started reading Jodi's weblog after I saw the pattern and it all started from there) So I have the sleeves started. But because of all the cabling in the sleeves, they are not something I can work on while I am waiting for the bus or on the subway. So I have also started on the back because the ribbing is easy enough while standing at 7 in the morning or during my lunch time. medium_100_0563.jpgmedium_100_0564.jpgmedium_100_0566.jpgThe picture of the back shows the color of the yarn the best, I think. It is a dark purple. While working on set stuff many weeks ago, I was taken to a fabric market here in Taipei. Let me just say, heaven!!!! I have found all the little things there that I couldn't find anywhere else. Like zippers and thread in colors other than black, white, and primary colors. I have bought some great material as butt cheap prices. Not having to pay export/import taxes is just wonderful. medium_100_0568.jpgmedium_100_0569.jpgThe first two are for skirts for me so I have something to wear when I have to impress parents. I have thinking of simple A-line skirts. But after checking out craftster.org other ideas are forming. The next ones will be used in lining bags as soon as I am finished with them. medium_100_0570.jpgmedium_100_0571.jpg
